On the second day of the Higher Education Archival Institution (LKPT) Accreditation Field Verification, the Assessment Team conducted spot checks at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara to verify the consistency between the submitted accreditation documents and the actual implementation of archival governance at the faculty level.

Destruction of Records Across 26 Work Units at Universitas Sumatera Utara

Universitas Sumatera Utara through its Archives Office carried out the destruction of records across 26 Work Units (Satker) within the university on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, at the USU Archives Office. A total of 1,211 files from the period 1987–2016 were destroyed after reaching the end of their retention period. The activity was attended by the University Secretary, the Internal Supervisory Board, and the Directorate of Legal and Organization Affairs, with the destruction conducted through total shredding to ensure information security.

USU Archives Office Holds Archival Appraisal Committee Meeting for Records Disposition

The Archives Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara conducted an Archival Appraisal Committee Meeting on Thursday, 11 December 2025, as part of the records disposition process within the USU environment. The meeting aimed to evaluate records that have exceeded their retention period in order to determine their final status in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule and applicable archival regulations. This activity supports orderly, effective, and accountable records management as part of USU’s commitment to good university governance.

Peak of USU Awards 2025: Best Faculties, Work Units, and Archival Personnel Officially Announced

Universitas Sumatera Utara held the USU Awards 2025 as part of the 73rd Anniversary (Dies Natalis) celebrations, presenting awards to outstanding faculties, work units, and archival personnel. In addition to the awards night, USU also conducted the Awarding of the Best Faculties, Work Units, and Archival Personnel in Archival Management at Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2025 through a comprehensive assessment process that lasted for one month and involved 52 archival management units across the university. This activity aimed to enhance professional, orderly, and sustainable archival governance throughout all USU work units.
