Medan, June 22, 2026 — The Directorate of Governance, Legal Affairs, and Archives, through the Universitas Sumatera Utara Archives (USU Archives), received a visit from the Archival Accreditation Assessment Team of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) as part of the Field Verification for the Accreditation of the Higher Education Archives Institution (LKPT), held from July 27–29, 2026. The activity was an important stage in the accreditation process, which aims to assess the conformity of archival management at USU with the standards and accreditation instruments established by ANRI. The accreditation process includes document verification, field verification, preparation of recommendations, and determination of the accreditation result.

During the field verification process, the Assessment Team reviewed various documents and supporting evidence that had been prepared. The assessors also conducted interviews and discussions with the USU Archives team to obtain a comprehensive overview of the implementation of archival policies, management of active and static archives, archival services, and archival preservation programs that have been implemented. Field verification is an important part of the accreditation process to ensure consistency between the submitted documentation and its implementation in practice.
The Assessment Team also directly inspected archival storage facilities, archival processing rooms, service areas, preservation rooms, and the digitization process for static archives carried out by the USU Archives. On the occasion, the Archives Manager demonstrated the implementation of archival digitization using scanning equipment, an audiovisual records management system, and digital preservation mechanisms designed to maintain the authenticity, integrity, security, and accessibility of archives.
As part of the visit, the Assessment Team also reviewed various achievements of the USU Archives, including Universitas Sumatera Utara's recognition as the Best Network Node, which serves as evidence of the institution's commitment to supporting national archival information management through the National Archival Information System (SIKN) and the National Archival Information Network (JIKN).

The verification process took place in a warm and interactive atmosphere. Various inputs, clarifications, and recommendations from the Assessment Team will serve as evaluation materials for the USU Archives to continuously improve the quality of archival management. Through this activity, archival management at Universitas Sumatera Utara is expected to become increasingly professional and adaptive to technological developments while supporting the realization of excellent university governance in line with the vision of The Era of Ultimate Excellence.
The accreditation visit marked an important moment for Universitas Sumatera Utara to strengthen its culture of orderly records management while improving the quality of archival services as a center of information, institutional memory, and a source of accountability in supporting the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
