Medan, August 12, 2026 — The Universitas Sumatera Utara Archives (USU Archives) served as a resource speaker at an Archival Workshop held at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) USU on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The activity was part of efforts to strengthen archival governance and improve understanding of records management within the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences USU, Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., CIT. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of orderly and systematic records management as a key component in supporting effective and accountable faculty administration.

During the workshop, USU Archives Manager Dr. Aisyah, S.E., M.Si., served as a resource speaker, delivering an overview of the USU Archives, followed by a discussion and question-and-answer session with archival managers within the Faculty of Cultural Sciences USU.

The session continued with a presentation by USU Archives staff member Raisa Dwi Safitri, S.S.I., who discussed the management of active and inactive records in higher education institutions. The presentation covered the importance of records creation, arrangement, storage, maintenance, and disposal in accordance with applicable archival regulations and governance standards.

The participation of the USU Archives as a resource speaker was expected to provide participants with a more comprehensive understanding of proper records management. The activity also served as an opportunity to strengthen coordination between the USU Archives and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences in establishing an effective, efficient, and sustainable archival system.

Effective records management plays a strategic role in supporting administration and services within the university. Records serve not only as documentation but also as sources of information, accountability materials, and evidence of various institutional activities.

The workshop was conducted successfully and received an enthusiastic response from participants. The collaboration between the USU Archives and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences through this activity is expected to continue in order to strengthen a culture of orderly records management and support high-quality university governance.
