USU ARCHIVES: The Archives Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted an Archival Outreach and Assistance activity at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve archival literacy and promote orderly, standards-based records management across the university.
Held at the FMIPA auditorium, the activity was attended by educational staff, faculty and program archive managers, and representatives from various work units under FMIPA. The USU Archives Office team delivered presentations on proper records management, archive classification, and organizing active and inactive records. The session concluded with a discussion and Q&A session with archive managers from FMIPA.

In her opening remarks, Cut Ruvina Hakim, S.Sos., M.Pd., Young Expert Archivist, representing the Head of the Archives Office, emphasized that the activity aims to foster a culture of organized recordkeeping at USU. Archives are vital assets in organizational management. With a sound archival system, administrative processes and public services will become more effective, transparent, and accountable," she said.
In addition to the outreach session, the team provided direct assistance to FMIPA's archive management staff. The support included organizing active and inactive records, determining archival retention periods, and techniques for digital migration of records.
Dr. Susilawati, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean II of FMIPA USU, expressed appreciation for the activity and encouraged the academic community at FMIPA to apply the knowledge gained to enhance administrative governance. "We highly appreciate this initiative, as it is very relevant in realizing modern and efficient university governance," she stated.

This activity is expected to serve as an initial step toward broadening archival awareness across all USU faculties and work units, supporting an integrated information system and institutional accreditation efforts.
