USU Archives Office Holds Archival Appraisal Committee Meeting for Records Disposition

USU ARCHIVES: The Archives Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving archival governance across the university. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, a team from the Archives Office conducted an archival management assistance activity at the Postgraduate School of USU. This activity occurred in the Meeting Room on the 1st Floor of the Postgraduate School building and was attended by administrative staff and archive managers from faculties and academic programs.
This assistance aimed to enhance understanding and implementation of proper archival practices by applicable regulations, supporting a well-organized and accountable information system. During the activity, the Archives Office team delivered material on active records management, using archival classification and retention schedules, effective storage systems, and preserving archives as institutional information assets.
Cut Ruvina Hakim, S.Sos., M.Pd., Young Expert Archivist, representing the Head of the USU Archives Office, stated that this activity is part of an ongoing program to develop and strengthen the archival system within USU. "We hope that through this assistance, archival management at the Postgraduate School will become more orderly, systematic, and by established standards," she remarked.
The Postgraduate School welcomed this initiative and hoped such assistance could be conducted regularly. "Archives are not just ordinary documents; they are an important part of institutional accountability and historical record," stated a representative of the Postgraduate School.
With the implementation of this activity, it is hoped that awareness and a culture of proper archival practice will be instilled across all units within Universitas Sumatera Utara.
