USU ARCHIVES: Universitas Sumatera Utara, through the USU Archives Office, carried out a records destruction activity involving 26 Work Units (Satker) within the university on Wednesday, 4 February 2026. The activity took place at the USU Archives Office as part of a periodic records disposition program conducted in accordance with prevailing archival regulations and legislation.

During the activity, the USU Archives Office destroyed 1,211 files covering the period from 1987 to 2016. The destroyed records had reached the end of their retention schedule and no longer held administrative, legal, financial, or other functional value, making them eligible for disposition.

The event was attended by the University Secretary, the Internal Supervisory Board, the Directorate of Legal and Organization Affairs, and the heads of the originating units as a form of transparency and accountability in the implementation of records destruction. The entire process had undergone verification, appraisal, and approval stages in accordance with applicable procedures.

The Head of the Archives Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Aisyah, S.E., M.Si., read the Official Report of Records Destruction, accompanied by the University Secretary, the Internal Supervisory Board, and the Directorate of Legal and Organization Affairs of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The University Secretary, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp.F.E.R., signed the Official Report of Records Destruction, accompanied by the Head of the Archives Office, the Internal Supervisory Board, and the Directorate of Legal and Organization Affairs of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The records destruction was symbolically carried out by the University Secretary and the USU Archives Office.

The destruction process was conducted in total through shredding, ensuring that the information contained in the records could no longer be recognized. The process was implemented in an orderly, secure, and accountable manner.

Through this activity, it is expected that more effective and efficient records management will be achieved, storage space will be optimized, and the quality of archival services will be enhanced. The USU Archives Office remains committed to supporting the realization of professional, accountable archival governance aligned with the principles of good governance within the university environment.
