USU Archives Office Holds Archival Appraisal Committee Meeting for Records Disposition

USU ARCHIVES: The Archives Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially received a visit from the Pematangsiantar City Archives and Library Office on Thursday, 9 October 2025. The visit was directly welcomed by the USU Archives Management Team at the USU Archives Office Building.
The visit was conducted as part of consultation and cooperation strengthening related to the management of the National Archival Information System and the National Archives Information Network (SIKN–JIKN). Through this activity, the Pematangsiantar City Archives and Library Office sought to enhance its understanding and implementation of digital-based archival management standards to support information transparency and modern archival services.

During the meeting, the USU Archives Office team delivered presentations on the management of dynamic and static records, archival digitalization workflows, and data integration with SIKN–JIKN as implemented within USU. The discussion was interactive and addressed various technical issues, ranging from digital archival security to strategies for enhancing public access through the national archival information network.
The Pematangsiantar City Archives and Library Office expressed its appreciation for the reception and explanations provided by the USU Archives Office, stating that the outcomes of the visit would serve as an important reference in developing archival governance within their institution.
Through this activity, it is expected that sustainable collaboration will be established between the USU Archives Office and the Pematangsiantar City Archives and Library Office in strengthening a modern, integrated, and accessible national archival ecosystem.
