The event began with the delivery of remarks by the Head of the Archives Office, Mrs. Aisyah, SE, MSi, in her speech, "The archive acquisition activity aims to save and maintain the collective memory, history and identity of the University through the collection, search and data collection of USU archives that are scattered both in work units, institutions, and even individuals. The archive acquisition process is a transitional phase, namely taking responsibility from what was originally carried out by the archive creator (creating agency) to the archive institution (institutional archives) ".
Furthermore, remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, MKed (OG), SpOG (K)-FER as Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara in his remarks, "through this activity, the rector expects the resources in charge of each unit in the USU Environment to be reliable to realize the implementation of professional, comprehensive and integrated archive governance on an ongoing basis and I hope this activity adds serious insight and knowledge so as to provide an increase in archival services will contribute significantly to the Transformation of Universitas Sumatera Utara towards Towards the Ultimate."
The event continued with the presentation of material on the Urgency of University Archive Acquisition by resource person Mrs Dra Sulistyowati, an Associate Expert Archivist and Coordinator of the Regional Archives Substance Group II A, National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, stated that the archive cannot be ordinary, it must be extraordinary in its work.
