Background

What Are SIKN, JIKN, and the SIKN Application?

  • National Archival Information System (SIKN) is a nationwide archival information system managed by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI), utilizing the National Archival Information Network.
  • National Archival Information Network (JIKN) is a nationwide information network and archival service system managed by ANRI.
  • SIKN Application is an information service system designed to collect and process archival data and information from various network nodes and subsequently make them accessible to users through JIKN.
     

SIKN and JIKN constitute a nationwide information network and archival information service system for both dynamic and static records. They aim to establish archives as the backbone of government administration and national development, ensure accountability in state administration, and guarantee the availability of archives as the complete collective memory of the Indonesian nation in an accessible, timely, accurate, convenient, and affordable manner. Through these systems, SIKN and JIKN also support the effective utilization of archival information and encourage greater public interest in accessing and using archives.

In general, digitized archival records can be uploaded to the National Archival Information System (SIKN) application and subsequently accessed by the public online through the JIKN website. The USU Archives Office currently provides access to information on both dynamic and static records through usu.sikn.go.id.
